London Alternative Market

Newsletter - 13th March 2006

Dear subscribers,

Well what can we say other thanks for helping to make it an amazing launch event; we had a fantastic attendance and it was a great opportunity to catch up with old and new friends alike. Thanks for all the feedback that people have been sending through, the boards have been buzzing with good feeling from the last event and have kept us energised through what has been a long week.

The final total raised for the Spanner Trust was £580 which was gratefully received by John Pendal who asked me to communicate the thanks of the trust for such great support. Having worked closely with the trust for a few months raising some money through another project we have come to respect the efforts that people who work on community projects go to. It can often be a thankless task and if the London Alternative Market can help to lighten their fund raising burden then we are happy to help.

Next month's nominated good cause is the London Fetish Scene who run a portal website detailing fetish events in London. The site is run by volunteers who all have many demands on their time. It was one of the first resources MC found when he entered the scene and he still uses the reviews section to see how events went when he is too busy to attend. We are hoping to arrange a series of raffle prizes in conjunction with them and the stall-holders, and will be helping to sell tickets for that in the run up to the event.

The demo this month will be Esinem, illustrating his skills and style in rope bondage. We are always impressed with his demonstrations and have spent many enjoyable evenings watching him work. We are hoping to provide him with extra in house tricks to ensure that the performance has that LAM touch. Again a big thanks to Alex for an amazing demonstration and the extra funds raised for the Spanner Trust through the open invitation to be whipped between two lovely young ladies, we must confess it was one of the highlights of our day.

We have taken onboard all the suggestions made and the venue wish to extend their apologies for the heating failure which occurred the night before and running out of wine on the day, they have assured me that it will not happen next month. We are also in the process of re-organising the stalls' floorplan into a different configuration to ease getting around in the throng. This will include moving a few upstairs to the back of the gallery level and adding some extra small stalls to the front tier of the gallery seating. We will be announcing our new stalls later in the month and can confirm that almost everyone that you saw last month will be returning. We will also have an expended selection of artists and photographers displaying their work at the LAM.

We look forward to welcoming you back on 2nd April for another relaxed and fun day out.

Regards,

The London Alternative Market Team
